Frequently Asked Questions

What type of things can I learn from a high-performance coach?

A high-performance coach teaches people of all backgrounds mental skills aimed to improve their focus, motivation, goal-setting strategies, emotional control, and pre-performance routines. Each session will be focused on meeting the individual’s specific needs, whatever they may be.

How many sessions will it take for me to improve?

Improvement can be immediate, but may take time depending on the complexity of the problem and the experience of the individual. However, the most important thing to understand is that as skills are learned/improved, the opportunity for improvement expands exponentially. This is the greatest thing about a HyPerformance Mind!

Can a high-performance coach only help me with my athletic performances?

No. Although the main focus of obtaining a HyPerformance Mind is to improve your athletic, artistic, intellectual, or business performance, the skills we teach translate into all aspects of our lives. You can take the skills you learn as a performer and use them to become more effective in your personal life, education, work, etc.

Can you help me with my injury recovery?

Yes! We work to maintain focus and set progressive goals throughout the recovery process. Additionally, beyond the physical work required to return to performance, there are mental “blocks” that keep people from returning to their previous form. A high-performance coach helps you to refocus your mind on practice and competition and block out the fear of re-injury.

I do not get along with my coach, is there anything I can do to overcome that struggle?

This is more common than many athletes may realize. We work to help each person focus on what they bring to the coach-athlete relationship and how to get the help they need from their coach.

How do I compete as well as I practice?

People struggle to perform like they do while practicing as the pressure to perform rises. We help people to control their emotions while competing and develop routines to produce high-performance.

How can I stay focused throughout an entire game? Can it be learned?

Focus takes practice. We work with different strategies to increase our ability to focus for long periods of time. We also discover which methods of learning best keep our focus.

Can you help me control my nerves before a big competition?

Yes! Nerves are a normal part of competition. They are healthy, we just need to control them. We work to use our nervous energy to our benefit and find methods to keep us in control throughout the competition.

I’ve hit a plateau in my training, what can I do to jumpstart growth?

We can restart physical growth through mental changes. All of our performances have both mental and physical elements. We practice shifting our mindset and focus in practice through cueing.

Is there a way to mentally prepare for competition?

Just as we physically warm up when preparing to compete, we can do so mentally as well. We work together to create a pre-performance routine which enables the athlete to “warm-up” mentally, just as they do physically. With practice, we can learn the power of a HyPerformance Mind in obtaining peak performances.
